Diabetic question?

I have diabetes type 2, and I'm on metformin one a day. I’m on a diet and I watch what I eat. My morning blood sugar can get up to 150s and rest of day stays in the teens do I need to go on more meds? My a1c is 6.2.

Age:63
Gender:Female
Medications:1-500 mg metformin

The morning blood glucose depends on the timing and composition of the previous day's evening meal.

Plan to eat a large breakfast, satisfying lunch and light supper . Lunch and supper should be rich in vegetables. Breakfast should include an egg. The food is best consumed and digested between the hours of 4 AM and 4 PM. Metformin should be taken after the evening meal.

You have a good hemoglobin A1c score. With the proper meal planning I would expect your HbA1c will soon be less than 6 %.

I'm so hairy and I'm a girl?

Since I was very young I've been extremely hairy like there is not one place that I'm not hairy in. It makes me so sad because all the other girls are hairless and pretty and I'm a hairy beast. Is there anything like a medicine or pill that I could take so I could not be hairy anymore?

Dark and coarse (terminal) hair growth in young women becomes a concern when it is noted in androgen-sensitive areas such as the shoulders, the nipple area of the breasts and tracking above the navel to the chest. Terminal hair growth in these areas suggests excess circulating testosterone and requires medical attention. Excess testosterone may be produced by the ovaries in certain conditions, for example polycystic ovarian syndrome. It may also be the product of an adrenal tumor. Your doctor will investigate these possibilities. Treatments with pills or surgery will be considered once the diagnosis is made.

Terminal hair growth on the arms and legs,  as well as the cheeks and chin may reflect a family trait and can be addressed by hair removal (waxing, shaving, laser)

What should I do?

I think I might be diabetic but I don't have insurance, no job. What should I do?

Female | 39 years old

The first step would be to screen for diabetes mellitus. There are free clinics which can test for glucose and hemoglobin A1c (a measure of blood sugar average over several months) without charge. Local hospitals can advise you about availability. If the diagnosis is confirmed, you can discuss options for medical care with a clinic social worker for programs that you may qualify for to cover expenses including supplies. Government funding is available for clinics to cover services and supplies, in many cases. Pharmaceutical companies also have programs offering free medication based on income

Stage 3 kidney?

I took a blood test and I guess it showed stage 3 of my kidneys pre-diabetic and low vitamin D also low estrogen. I don't know what any of this means or if it's really serious I don't have an appointment until the middle of February. The nurse called me with this information. Is this information do I need a specialist or just keep seeing my family doctor I'm confused my swelling in my body is getting worse I also have a lump on top of the knuckles of my hand and a pea-sized hard lump underneath the skin on the palm of my hand which in turn makes my hand pretty much useless and she has yet to address this problem either. IDK what to do.

Female | 45 years old

People with poorly controlled diabetes mellitus can develop kidney damage which causes the body to progressively waste protein in the urine and may lead to swelling in the legs. Stage 3 suggests that the kidneys are functioning at roughly 50% of their capacity. High blood pressure causes stress for both the heart and kidneys, accelerating kidney damage in diabetes.   Having diabetes and hypertension together  is an alarm signal to become very responsible with your medical care if kidney failure is to be avoided. The fact that you note swelling suggests that you need a good medical check up to manage these issues.

Low vitamin D levels are a problem for most people in our industrialized society. both because of our diet and our limited exposure to sunlight. Vitamin D is very important for our immunity and for the health of our internal organs. Fortunately, vitamin D supplements are readily available and should be included in our diet.

Freely movable lumps on the knuckles and palms usually represent cysts that develop over tendons that move our fingers and represent wear and tear. Your physician can verify this and suggest management.

I have pain under my left breast?

I have this pain after I eat. I have type diabetes and heart problems run in my family.

Male | 31 years old

Pain under the left breast after meals usually associates with digestive issues, such as stomach discomfort. Stomach reflux can generate pain behind your breast bone .  Heart related pain can appear at any time, most frequently with exertion. It generally is appreciated as intense pressure over the chest which does not change with breathing or swallowing. I suggest discussing this matter with your doctor. They may suggest special testing or try a pill to relieve stomach acidity before making other recommendations.

Age:27
Gender:Female
Duration:09/01/201
Conditions:Constantly peeping , dark yellow/ orange pee, sleepy all the time , pain lower tummy, headaches, hard to take deep breath’s, get hungry more than usual

Being thirsty more than usual and urinating large amounts on a frequent basis throughout the day (and night) are classic symptoms of diabetes mellitus , but they may also be features of other conditions. Having family members with diabetes mellitus increases the likelihood of having this problem.

You should have a blood test for glucose with your doctor. You can also check the urine for sugar with a simple test strip like those used to test for pregnancy. It is important to clarify the cause of your problem, because timely medical management can help you avoid unpleasant complications, which sometimes make hospital admission necessary.

A hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) test result over 6.5 % qualifies for the diagnosis of diabetes mellitus. Glucose results over 200 mg/dL also qualify for diabetes,. Based on the results that you usually see, which are below these thresholds, you certainly qualify as having prediabetes. The best way to settle the issue is to have a 2 hour 75 g oral glucose tolerance test with your doctor.  The best way to improve your blood glucose profile and avoid future complications is to lose weight. I suggest you refer to my book A Blueprint for Healthy Eating: Your Diet Guide for the New Millennium.
